Being sued by American express, 30,000.00, court date 8/3/2010. I have responded to the summons with general denial. What should I do in court?

This is a legal question and I have asked that it be moved. Is it posted under homework because it's not an actual legal question?

When you go to Court you present your defense - what is it?

Yes, I did ask for proof/verification of the debt. Michael & Associates sent back the following, Plaintiffs request for admission, Form interrogatories- general Plaintiff's special Interrogatories, Plaintiff's request for production of documents. Court date is set for 8/3/2010. I responded to most of these questions with general denial, & requested again proof/Verification of debt. This sent was received on or about6/13/2010 and response wss sent back to them return receipt requested 7/13/2010, I have not heard anything else from them.

Do you have a defense to the claim?

Not really, Not sure what I should do, or what should the defense should be, Hoping they are not able to produce a signed copy of the application. I guess request a dismissal.
