    Roommate eviction
We have a roommate who moved in with us 8 months ago and he is on the lease, He was suppose to help pay the electric and his portion of the rent. He stopped paying on the electric in march but continues to pay his rent. The problem we are having with him is hygene problems. We both have health problems and since we have lived with him we have been sick more then ever. He never washes his hands, after using the bathroom, or putting his hands in his pants. Then he goes and gets in the fridge and touches door knobs , etc. His room is a filthy mess and has bugs in it because of horrible hygene habits. We want him out, can we kick him out? And how much time do we have to give him?

Depends on the law of your State - you may not be able to evict him if he is on the lease. The landlord may be the only person who can evict him.

    Where?

If he is signed as a leasor on the lease you all have with your landlord, then you cannot evict him. You have to work with your landlord to evict.

If he is paying his rent to the landlord on time, then the landlord may not want to evict.

As to the electric, if he's not paying his share and you two have to supplement to keep it from being turned off, you can sue him for the difference.

You need to discuss this with the landlord about not renewing his lease.
