I have a koi pond that moves the water with a Hayward Super 2 pump and a 2 hp. A.O.Smith 220v motor. I replaced the T104 timer, which I wired to be lowspeed/ high speed mode instead of on/off, as the Koi need constant water flow. Problem is this: I disconnected the wiring thinking it was a wiring problem but forgot how I wired it in the first place (4 years ago). I have a red, black, white and green from supply and a black (common) a blue (low) and orange (high) to motor. Any ideas?

Black to black
Red to blue or orange depending on speed
White - capped
Green - ground

This assumes that the high/low is speed and not voltage. The black and red input can be interchanged.

A.O.Smith Electrical Products Company should be helpful, if you want to check with them.

Thanks, K.I.S.S. but I am concerned about hooking it up to a T104 timer (I,e. a 1 2 3 4). I do remember that 2 (load) and 3 (line) had a jumper between the two, and all the white wires went to "A" ( I also have a light and a GFI outlet running off the timer). The white from the wall goes to terminal A and probably all the others.

Here is the problem. I have 3 wires coming out of the motor; the low speed wire and the high speed wire I can figure out, but where does the common wire connect to? Is it always hot or considered a nuetral wire? The T104 diagram only shows 2 load wires.

The common is considered another load wire. When you are using 240, you have to break both legs with a switch. Each leg is 120 V with respect to Neutral.

It's customary to call the connection a 4 wire 240/120 volt with L1, L2, N and G. L1 & L2 are interchangeable.
