Old phone line only has 3 white wires. How do I update that?
I am doing work in my basement and I went to run the new phone line and realized the old phone line is made up of only 3 white wires (no rings or bands of any color), just solid white. Any idea what I should do? Or do I just have to play with the connections until they work?

On a regular phone line you only need two wires. Pick up a cheap phone line tester at Radio Shack and you can determine which wires are needed. The tester will help you find the correct polarity.

Okay, I figured this one out after stripping the lines. The lines were marked in a fashion I have never seen before. The fibers inside the line that ran next to the copper were dyed. They were dyed green, yellow and red. I didn't notice this on my first inspection as the lines were not stripped.

Green and red should be the ones... just get the polarity correct.
