I have no water after replacing hot water heater
I had a small leak in my gas hot water heater so I had my son turn off the water just going to the hot water heater. This causes all of the water in the house to stop after a day. I replaced the hot water heater and turned the water back on, I had intermittent water with low pressure for a few days now I have no water at all. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

    Hi Diamond...

Sounds like your son may have shut off more than just the cold water feed into the water heater. Here, if he had only shut off the cold water shutoff into the heater and there was an issue it should only be associated with the hot water. You imply above that you have lost both hot and cold... right?

If you have lost both hot and cold I would look at the MAIN WATER SHUTOFF into the house... at the meter or at the pump. Most likely this has been touched.

If it has been touched it could even look like it is open but it is actually still closed off... or semi. Closed off... depends on the type of valve.

If you have only lost hot water then it is certainly reasonable to suspect that the cold water shutof has malfunctioned and needs to be replaced. Here, open the drain at the bottom of the heater and see if water comes out under pressure for a few minutes.

Let me know what you think...

He shut off the know above the hot water heater only. I have even gone down and looked myself. The storage tank is empty but has pressure.

Do you have cold water to everything in the house?

No water at all, we can hear the pump click every 15 to 20 seconds but there is no water. The gauge on the pipes reads at 0. The pressure in the storage tank is at 30, but there is no or very little water in the tank.

    Diamond...

I don't know much about pumps/pump systems and I don't want to start guessing for you here (not many pumps in Boston area... ;)).

Give the other guys that hang out here some time to weigh in on this... OK? Check back later tonight and first thing in the AM... hopefully, one of the pump guys will pop in.

If you can go back (EDIT) your original question and add the fact that your pump system is cycling and the rest you posted that would be very helpful for you.

We hear the pump cycling but there is no pressure in any of the lines. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
