What is the statute of limitations in Texas on private school loans?
In 1968, I took out a private student loan in Texas, at then Texas A&I University,
It was for $600.00, now they claim I owe $1,887.98, or won't release my transcript, so I can get a better paying job, at the school district. What is the statute of limitations on
    These type loans in Texas?
    Thanks,
    Mary A.

After 42 years they have no legal right to come after you to force you to pay - so you're safe from that perspective. But you're not asking whether they can sue you; you're asking whether they can withhold service, and I believe they can. It's like a library that refuses to loan another book to someone who owes a late fee, even if it dates all the way back to 1968. My advice is that if you want the transcript you request a detailed accounting of what you owe, and then pay it. If in fact you owed $600 back in 1968, having to pay only $1887 in 2010 is a pretty good deal (the increase is less than 3% interest per year).
