I have a 2004 Ford F250 6.0 Diesel. Had a problem with cooling fan coming on when towing my fifthwheel. Coming home from a trip the fan kept coming on and off. Also the tramsmission started to shift bad. Had to let my rpms drop to shift and it would work at times and sometimes not. Was using the tow/haul. Took to dealer and they said turbo sticking and oil cooler more than 25 degrees difference in something. So they rebuilt turbo -new oil cooler and fluids. But when driving home now have a humming sound when the transmission shifts and come on at times when excelling or decreasing speed. Another problem!! Anyone got any ideas of what's going on? 75,000 miles on truck serviced to specs.

Your turbo and transmission problems would go away, if you used the proper full-synthetic lubricants. Use Mobil 1 Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF or Amsoil Synthetic Universal ATF in the transmission and power steering system. Here's how I service PSD transmissions:

Your ATX will run cooler, shift better, and last longer. Most ranchers I know use this stuff and have for years. You won't have boil overs, even on 100 degree+ hot summer days hauling 13 head of cattle to market. Texans know their lubricants.


Use Mobil Delvac 1 SAE 5W-40 or Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck SAE 5W-40. These are full-synthetic HDDOs. Only use Motorcraft engine oil and fuel filters--other brands can adversely affect fuel pressure. Even if you follow Ford's maintenance program exactly, your turbo won't last long with conventional oil. It's the nature of the beast.

Drain those dinosaur lubricants ASAP.
