    a/c not cooling properly
OK I know a lot about heating and cooling been doing it for about 3 yrs but I come across this problem and can never figure it out. The problem is even though my gauges read 60 on the low side (which is what our compressors are suppose to be) I can't get the low line to sweat. Sometimes its just how hot the apartment is but other times its air that got in the line. So I leak check it with a leak detector but never detect nothing. I all ways end up recovering the r-22 and change the schrader valves and recharge the unit. But at times I get called back over there and end up spending more time than is really needed and never resolving the issue. Is that just a sign of a bad compressor? Sorry to ramble but would like to not look like a moron when this problem happens again.

    *edit

After I charge the unit from 40 back up to 60 the apartment takes time to cool because of the heat flowing over the coils

When you recover, and before you recharge, did you Vacuum it down ,might have air/moisture in the lines

Why do you want the suction at 60? As hot as it is out it should be at least 75 if not 80 inless you live in Alaska
