My son overdosed and aspirated twice was taken to hospital unconscious, but the hospital never gave him any antibiotics for 5 days by that time his lungs started to fail and he was on ECMO for 36 days should the hospital have given my son antibiotics sooner our GP has said they should have now my son has lungs that are like honeycomb

How old is your son? ECMO is used on infants with lung problems. YOu have to explain all medical complications to us before asking this question. We can't diagnose or recommend on this website as we do not know pre-exisiting medical conditions.

If this is an older individual, does this person have COPD?

He's 34 years old, and ecmo is also used on all age patients as I have seen this, my son overdosed he aspirated twice, when the ambulace took him to hospital they told the doctors he had aspirated twice they didn't give him fluids or antibiotics for 5 days, he was then taken to ITU where his lungs failed, they admitted neglect, now his notes have gone missing what I want to know is if the hospital had given him antibiotics on admission would his lungs been in the condition they are now 6 monthes later he's on oxygen

You have to think about what you are asking of strangers on a help desk. This is a highly personal question, a hospital administration question. A question related to nurses and doctors who attended your son. We have no access to hospital records, and even if we did, we could not answer this question. So go to the source, ask the doctors, the nurses, the administrators. Have a enough guts to follow everything up and get answers from the source.

If it was my son, I would get answers from the people who treated him.

We have tried to get answer his NOTES ARE MISSING they neglected my son they told us they neglected him then said the conversations were missing just like the NHS they lie and yes I am taking it further do you really think id sit back and let the NHS get away with this all I wanted to know should they have given him antibiotics sooner you can't answer that, so you see the ITU staff say they have no nursing notes for my son being in ITU yet I have photos of him in ITU was just trying to get one answer sorted as the hospital are lying

First it can take at least several hours, and normally several days for various experts to read and review the various questions.

In your case,
1. the hospital makes no choices as to care, they treat and give medication only under specific doctors orders. So the doctors or the specific doctor assigned to his case would be the one responsible for ordering certain treatment.

If things were ordered by the doctor, and not given then the hospital would be at fault, if they were not ordered by the doctor, he would be at fault.

So was his normal doctor called into do the case after the first hours in ER ?

The issue here
1. you said that "they admitted fault" who are they, hospital or doctor ? And was this verbal or written fault.

2. next exactly what files are missing ?

The doctor if he ordered certain treatment, should or may be happy to provide you copies of his records, since it would lesson his liability. The hospital loss of records, do not help them, since it can not prove they provided the treatment

What you do have is a very expensive law suit, lawyer fees if going to court will be in the 10's of thousand and expert witnesses still additional thousands of dollars most likely. You should, with a good enough case, be able to find attorneys who will take it on a percentage of what is won. The expert witnesses will be the problem, since they will have to be paid win or lose.

Before I even begin to respond to this question I need to know WHAT your son overdosed on.

Was it an accidental overdose or a suicide attempt.

Medications given, or withheld, will depend on the particular drug that was overdosed.

And, yes, Tickle, ECMO is typically used on very ill neonates, but is also used on all ages as well.

Thank you, it was the chief consultant of intensive care that admitted neglect he had 2 nurses with him I have their names, he told us that there were things that could have been done for my son but they weren't, he was in prone to long and when they turned him to supine something went seriously wrong we were told verbally my son had a massive black mark on his head and a split lip he has a huge scar over his eyebrow now and half his eyebrow missing, they knew they had done wrong and left him obviously unatteded in ICU, because a nurse told us she found him in a non deployment position yet he was heavly sedated and paralised with a drug so he couldn't have moved even an inch he was then flown to london and put on ECMO for 36 days we use these in the UK for adults as well, he remained seriously ill and dying we were told, after 7 weeks he was bought back to our local where again we were taken in to a private room and told verbaly that the conversation they had with us was now missing, when we wrote for his hospital notes it said they were no notes of my son from ITU I have pictures taken dated and time of him in ITU you can clearly see he's in ITU because he's intubated and you cannot be intubated on a normal ward all the machines were round him kidney machines bloodtransfusions you can see them all yet they say he has no nursing notes how conveient for them and that why I asked if they had given himantibiotics would that have stopped him being so ill and dissabled now as he's on oxygen now and was ina wheel chair when he came home, our own GP wasn't involved in this but when my son went to see him a few weeks ago he stated that my sons lungs are in the condition they are today because the hospital didn't give him antbiotics for 5 days, after aspirations with tablets his lungs would have been full of chemicals from the tablest he took and food he had eaten causeing bacteria buildup that's all I ak for that question but thank you for your email I appreciate it very much, I'm sorry if I lost it abit but this is a nightmare to us as afmily when a hospital admit neglect verbally then retract it saying they have lost the conversation,thank you again F_R CHUCK for your help

Why was he in the hospital in the first place?

Let's start from the very beginning okay? Tell me why he first went to the hospital and we will go from there.
