Call a Vet and do it NOW before you lose the unborn kittens AND the mother.

Sometimes labor stops for a number of hours. Sometimes it's something more serious.

Is this her first and last litter?

Yes this is her first and last litter. She was a stray that we took in and have good homes for all her kittens she may have reliable people we know. And I have spoken with a vet and she doesn't feel there is any reason to worry at this point since she is behaving normally. I was looking on line for a place like this while waiting for call back from the vet. Don't assume everyone is careless or not responsible.

Are you saying the vet thinks there was only one kitten? It's possible, especially if she was a stray and probably starving, that the other kittens if any were not viable and were resorbed, sort of like a spontaneous abortion. But get her checked out, because problems like feline leukopenia virus or chlamydia could cause symptoms like that... low or no fertility.

Cats can stop labor for up to a full day if they don't feel safe or comfortable giving birth. If she's not in distress, and since you've already consulted a vet, just wait it out. Keep an eye on her and take her to a vet if there seems to be a problem.

Can you feel other kittens? It is entirely possible that there was only one kitten. It's not common, but it does happen, especially with first litters of young cats.

Oh no there are def more kittens. She didn't like the spot I picked outy for her to have them she kept trying to get into a closet under the staircase so we cleaned it out and put the box in there and let her move her kitten. She has not started up again but she did eat and drink and is now back in the box and back to licking herself again so hopefully soon.. We are lucky we have a vet that lives in our development that does house calls and will come anytime I need him and he is aware of what's up. Thanks and I will keep you informed.

Sounds like she just didn't feel completely safe. She should have the rest of the kittens now that she feels safe.
