Can a landlord break a lease in Michigan
My landlord wants to break lease to rent to section 8 tenant... she called me and ask me to move because she had 2 with vouchers... I have a 1 year lease which is not up until Nov.. Can she do this? I am not behind in rent except I haven't paid this month because I told her I was not paying rent and trying to move because I could not afford it.

If you have a written lease and that lease does not give her the right to break it then she can't break it for this reason. But if you can't afford the rent and you want to move then isn't this a good thing for you? Why not work it out with her that you will look for a new place immediately and move out asap? Tell her that you want 2 months rent free while you look for a new place in return for allowing her to break the lease.

Keep in mind that if you haven't paid the rent for this month then she can give you a pay or vacate notice and then file a lawsuit for eviction. You don't want an eviction on your record. Try to work something out with her.
