Reward system for 7th and 8th grade special ed students
I would like to come up with a reward system for 7th and 8th graders. I really need help in this area. In the past what I used did not work well. Please help.

Are you rewarding them for good behavior or good grades? Most teachers give out candy. Perhaps you could make a "rewards board" with all of the students' names. For each good grade a student gets you can put a sticker or something next to the name and the student can have a certain amount of extra credit points or gets a reward with a certain amount of points or stickers. Maybe you can have a party for students with the most points.

    Hi, klp1980!

What did you do in the past and what are the rewards for, please?

    Thanks!

    Hello k:

There only a few things that motivates people, even 7th graders. That would be sex (out of bounds here), money (probably out of bounds too), and power. Hmmm... You could reward them with POWER. Power to do what, I couldn't say. You'll think of something.

Free time to help in other classes. Library time. If the school allows... maybe name a student of the day over the intercom. If you all say the pledge let them do it over the intercom. Have a few T shirts made up that say.. " Good Student" on them.

The power idea actually isn't too bad. Maybe let one of the good kids teach a lesson for a day or pick a story or something.

Have pizza and juice. It really works as long as no one has any food allergies.
