Could I be experiencing implantation bleeding?
Hi, my name is Joy. I am on here because Im really confused with what is happening with my body right now. My LMP was 06/18/2010. I had intercourse with my fiancé 6/25 7/1-7/6 and my I have a normal 33-35 day cycle. I have been experiencing very mild lower abdominal cramps for the past week. My pd is due tomorrow 7/22 but on Monday afternoon 7/19 I starting spotting this light red/pinkish color (only enough to use a panty liner). It stopped by noon today 7/21. My normal period comes early morning (wake up time 6AM) , and is heavy from start to finish. I went to the doctor and got a blood pregnancy test on Monday 7/19 which came out negative. I wanted to know if this could be implantation bleeding. And if so, am I right when I say the pregnancy test (blood) wouldn't come out positive until 3 days after implantation takes place or 5 days with a urine test due to the hcg hormone not being released until the implantation has completely taken place. If anyone has any input please don't hesitate on replying. Thanks a bunch!

Implantation bleeding has not been scientifically proven. Think about it... something smaller than a pencil dot implanting into a rather large organ and causing bleeding.

Many times women are getting what is known as a pseudo-period and they call this implantation bleeding. What this means is that their body is gearing up for a period when the increase of pregnancy hormone (HCG) causes the period to be more like spotting. Thus "implantation bleeding."

Unfortunately, since your period is due tomorrow, you will have to wait to see if it comes. Wait a week. If it does not come as anticipated, test using first morning urine.

Ok. I only ask because with my first pregnancy, I did in face have implantation bleeding looking the same as this but it only lasted a day. I normally have my pd right on time with no extra or light bleeding ahead of schedule like I have this time. I really do appreciate your input J_9. Do you think next week it would be best to use FMU on a test strip.

As an OB nurse, I recommend the clear blue easy that uses the actual words... "positive/negative."

Ok, its funny you recommend that. That's the 1 I took when I was pregnant with my son. Thanks a lot! :-)

Hey j_9. So I haven't woken up to my AF the way I normally would today, but what I have been having since I woke up was some clear odorless vaginal discharge and very mild cramping as if my AF is here but defiantly isn't. Is this normal? What could it be?

Hey J_9. So this morning I woke up with no AF how I normally would have. But what I did have was some clear odorless vaginal discharge and some very light cramping feeling lik my AF is here but defiantly isn't. Does this mean anything?

This could mean that your period is gearing up. Remember that every once in a while mother nature throws us for a loop.

Wait another week, if it still hasn't come, take a pregnancy test then.

I know waiting is hard, but it's all part of the game called pregnancy.

I do hope you get the response you are looking for.

Hi J_9 I brought a clear blue digital which I plan to take in the AM. I have a question. I usually wake up at 5:40AM. Is that an OK time to take the test? Considered First Morning Urine? Or should I wait until I get to work around 7:30 or 8AM

Take it at 5:40. The FIRST time you pee after sleeping.
