    40 percent kidney function
My kidney function is 40 percent after 34 years of high calcium and vitamin d intake. I will have to take these medications I know damage kidneys for the rest of my life.
I guess my question is how long will that life be? I have hypoparathyroidism since thyroid cancer removal at 17. If anyone can give me some idea I would really appreciate it.

What has your doctors said? They know what your diagnosis is,how you have reacted to the medications up to this point, I am sorry you are going through this, but how can we answer this question?Even the professional healthcare people on here would balk at answering this.. it would all be speculation and most likely wrong.

My mom started dialysis nearly two years ago. Her kidney function was down to 15. She has to stay on a strict diet and her fluid intake is limited.

She does great and she is older than you. All the medications she was taking before this is now given to her through the dialysis.
