My dog threw up once a lot and now he won't eat, he is drinking water now but only after I made him drink gator aid with a syringe now he is drinking water but hasn't eaten in 3 days what could be wrong? He is an outside dog with plenty of shade and water, also a covered porch but he prefers to lay in the dirt, I guess it's cooler, he appears to be weaker but still wags his tail, so not depressed.

Since you insist on making your dog an outside dog & you can't see what he may be eating, there is a very good possibility he ate something that might be poisonous to his system or lodged in his intestines. Since no one can examine him online, it is anyone's guess.

Cara, any reason you haven't called your vet? If your dog hasn't eaten in three days & he "appears to be weaker", you need to get him to the vet ASAP.

He needs to be seen by a Vet. Any changed in behavior or eating or sleeping habits should be addressed.

He is getting weaker? He definitely needs to see a Vet.

It may be something, it may be nothing. He's an outside dog so you really don't know what he's ingested. As far as tail wagging - my dog died wagging his tail (for me). Go to a Vet.

I always reverse this - if you threw up a lot, couldn't keep water (or gator aid) down, hadn't eaten in 3 days and were weak, would you go to a Doctor?

Hi the best thing to do is take him to a vet who can examine him and give you a diagnoses.

It could be he has some kind of virus/infection for which he may need some anti-biotics.
