I was recently arrested for retail theft of 30 dollars in Pennsylvania. I am 42 years old and was told there was a prior 20 years ago showing on my record. I don't remember ever getting convicted. How do you think this case will go.

Ask to see the prior. If convicted likely a fine and probation depending on what that prior was. Ask if it was a prior conviction or just an arrest, if your were not convicted back then it should have no affect

It oughtn't effect you now even if you WERE convicted. Most states sentencing guidelines take into consideration what they call "ancient convictions". Yours is ancient.
