My riding mower is starting and after it started the starter kick in again which stop
Yard Machine by MTD. When I start my riding mower, it will start. As soon that it will start the starter will engaged again to the flywheel and made the engine stop again. I install new ignition switch and solenoid. Anybody please help. So it will do a quick start and seconds the starter will engaged again. Where do I trouble shoot this problem. Do you think the starter has extra energy and will do the second starting by itself. Thanks to all, please respond

You need to replace the starter. The bendix gear has gone bad. Also make sure the starter isn't hanging up in the grear.

    Hi,
True it has probably damaged the gear, but is replaceable as a part. My guess would be a bad solenoid. When the engine starts, it "throws" the gear away but the stuck solenoid causes it to re-engage.
    Peace,

I would check my wiring harness going to the starter.
Or as crigby said could be a bad solenoid,I have seen bad new ones.but something is still feeding starter,
