I live in Texas and I just bought a new car. I can't speak with my auto insurance agent until Tomorrow. Is there a grace period for insurance on my new car? And if so, is it just a legal grace period or is my insurance actually covering my new car?

If you presently have car insurance your new vehicle is automatically covered under the terms of your existing insurance. But, if you do not have say collission on your present vehicle your new vehicle will not have the collision coverage until you contact your agent and have the new car officially added with the collission coverage. This situation is valid for 30 days with your new car with your present insurance carrier.
It is not "grace" since that term referes to when the premium is due. A new car is normally insured under the terms of the existing policy. But if your current policy is just liablity that is all the new car would have.
Most dealers would not allow you to drive off the lot without proff of insurance
