Basic steps for this are:

1. Draw the free body diagram for the ring - this will let you determine the normal force that would keep it in equilibrium.
2. That normal force can be considered to have a vertical component and a horizontal component. The vertical component you already know (the ring's weight), so given the geometry of the cone you can now determine the horizontal componet of force.
3. The horizontal force causes the ring to stretch. Use the relationship for force versus estension of a spring:
F = kx. You determine k using the data you've been given.

I have a 01 silverado with a 4.8l. I had the code p0332 and I replaced both knock sensors and the wiring harness and intake gaskets and cleared the code stored in the memory. Took it for drive then the code p0327 was pending then drove some more and the fault code was there. I was watching the timing and the load on the engine and they are both things that knock sensor 1 reads. The timing would drop to 9 degrees then slowly start to raise and the load on the engine would jump up above 80% when I would try to accelerate a little hard getting onto the highway. It only has maybe half the power it's supposed to have. What's causing this?

Depends if the new batteries are in parallel or series with the original set, and the nature of the load the batteries are driving. When you put batteries in series the voltage adds and current capacity remains the same, but whether current flow is constant depends on the circuit. When you put batteries in parallel the voltage remains the same and the current capacity increases, but again whether current draw actually increases depends on the nature of the load.
