    What's up with my malibu?
I am getting 4 codes... Random/Multiple cylinder misfire, Exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient, Evaporative Emission system leak (small), and Camshaft sensor A circuit. The car died going down the highway, at first it would start and run, but made glub glub sounds and shook the entire car. Now it will not stay running, but will turn over and start. It feels like I have a fuel problem, and from internet reading, sounds like cam or crankshaft issue... how can I get my 1999 Malibu running again?

    In this order:

. Replace the Camshaft Position Sensor.

. Replace the platinum spark plugs (ACDelco only) with the same plugs that came in the car, if they have not been changed in the last 3 years.

. Replace the coil pack, if any misfire codes reappear.

. Check/replace the gas cap. It may be leaking and causing an EVAP system leak (small). Be sure not to try and pump in more gas, once the nozzle cuts off. Many expensive repairs are caused by doing that.

. Replace the EGR Valve. Start using full-synthetic engine oil (e.g. Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum). Synthetics help prevent emission control problems and sludge development.

After each repair, use a code reader to erase old codes, start the engine, and observe performance.

Thank you. I will get to work... another site mentioned ignition wires, should I skip or avoid that?

If you have over 80,000 miles on the wires, I would replace them. Apply dielectric grease to connections.
