I would like to be baptised but my father in not christian what do I do?

No worries. Baptism is
1. your choice, and
2. not dependent on anyone else being Christian.

Are you asking because he objects to your being baptized?

I would suggest finding a Bible based church, and talk to the minister or someone at the church. I attend the church of Christ, it is a Bible based church. You can find a close one to you through the phone book. Pray about this, God will guide you.
According to God's word, baptism is very important in our lives, and essential for salvation.

I guess the issue is
1. how old are you ?
2. is any family member a christian?

And would there be serious punishment if you got baptised?

In some places, if you were baptized you may be forced to leave home ( I know of several cases, had one that I did, their choice to be baptized meant they had to move out of their parents home.

Most pastors will baptize a older teen but it will depend on the pastor.

Yes, baptism is important. The Bible and the historic Christian faith affirms it.

Baptism alone does not assure "salvation". Read the book of James to begin with... and the rest of the New Testament carefully.

Seek solid Christian council also. You've asked a good question here on this site. Don't leave it at that, but also seek the council of local Priests and Pastors in your area.

You are right, baptism alone does not assure salvation. It is one step in becoming a Christian. There is also believing (the word of God & that Christ is the Son of God), Studying God's word, Repenting of our sins and turning away from them, and being baptized into Jesus Christ. Then remaining faithful unto death. These things will assure salvation.
