    I need to replace a Honeywell T841A1001 thermostat on a heat pump.
    I need to replace a Honeywell T841A1001 thermostat on a heat pump, and of course they do not make this one anymore.

    The old thermostat wiring was as follows"

    R = Red
    O = Orange
    G = Green
    Y = Yellow
    W2 = White with Jumper to X

    I believe the W2 white wire is for heat strips that were never installed in my heat pump. If I choose a new thermostat such as the Honeywell TH3110D could I just leave the white wire disconnected and hook the rest up to the proper terminal? I see no reason to pay more for a thermostat with AUX heat when I don't have heat strips.

    Please let me know if I am thinking correctly or am a little mixed up.

    Thanks,

    Mike
