I had a leaf blower/vac in which the manufacturer admitted there was a problem, but was not intending to fix it because it affected too few customers.

They said I could downgrade to a less powerful blower or I could have my money back. Took the $ and bought a Stihl.

The leaves I was vacuuming (Oak) basically turns to dust and coated the cooling fins. The unit would overheat, so basically you need valves and a head.

Overheating is the largest cause of failures.

No oil in the gas will cause the valves to overheat. These are generally leaf type springs.

    Check:
    Spark
    Fuel
    Compression

Good wrench ,how old is your gas is it more than a month old.
I work on about 9-10 blowers a week most of the time its bad fuel, because they don't get used that often,

Hey DG I thought about the gas and mixed up a new batch with craftsman synthic oil,the spark seems to be weak, but I crank all day long and it does not even try to start,I only used about 15 months, use it to blow off mower deck leaves in the fall etc...

The bad thing about those blower,
They only have a one ring piston, and the ring will stick ,and no more compression,
Pull the muffler off and turn over until you can see the piston ring and try pushing in on it with a little screw driver and see if it moves, and you also mightlook at the cylinder wall with the piston down.
You might think about spending a little more money next time and get one with 2 ring piston.
I like Tanaka myself every thing they make is 2 ring, good luck,
