I'm not sure what, if anything, this has to do with your question. If you are insinuating that you have poor self confidence, that is something you may want to work on.

It gets sticky when asking a really good friend out, as it changes the dynamic of the relationship. My opinion, you should work on your own self image before dating anyone.

You are already going to the cinema together so you don't have to worry about asking him out. Not sure I understand you predicament.

Now after the cinema, maybe inviting him to some other event may be really cool if things go well. Enjoy the friendship, and see what happens. No need to get carried away at this time.

I think what you mean is, you want to tell him how you feel to see if you can start a romantic relationship.

We have no idea how he feels, only by asking him will you find out.

If he feels the same way, then great! A new beginning. But if he only sees you as a friend, things can get awkward between the two of you or he might be cool staying friends with you.
