I want to know about the Oregon emancipation law is and about being emancipated when I am pregnant and my mom knows I want to move out when I am 16 and move in with my boyfriend but my mom says I can't what is the law on that?? I am not good at research so I don't know

You have to be 16, file a petition to be emancipated with the Court and PROVE that you are emotionally and financially able to care for yourself - not have your boyfriend provide for you but to support yourself.

It would appear that the age of consent to have sex in Oregon is 18 (and if you are almost 16 I figure you're actually 15) so if there is sexual contact which someone can prove (such as if you are "prego") your boyfriend can go to jail. Your mother doesn't have to press charges. Anyone can notify the Police.

Because you are 15 it is a more serious charge.

Well, there are a few issues here. First, your boyfriend is a felon and one call from your mother notifying the DA that your boyfriend committed statutory rape (or whatever OR calls it) and he is going to be out of the picture for 10-15 years.

Second, unless you can prove to the court that you can financially support yourself (doubtful for a pregnant 15 year old unless your name is Jamie Lynn Spears), you are not eligible for emancipation.

He'll be gone for longer than 10-15 years. She's under 16.

Does this boyfriend live on his own?

Think about this. If you don't graduate HS and this boyfriend decides he does not want you, what are you going to do then, where are you going to go?

Don't burn bridges young lady, you may have to go back across it.

In making its determination, the court shall take into consideration the following factors:

(a) Whether the parent of the minor consents to the proposed emancipation;
(b) Whether the minor has been living away from the family home and is substantially able to be self-maintained and self-supported without parental guidance and supervision; and
(c) Whether the minor can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the court that the minor is sufficiently mature and knowledgeable to manage the minor’s affairs without parental assistance.

Obviously a) and b) don't apply. And c) is questionable. So, if you don't want your boyfriend to be jailed for a long time. I would be nice to mom and dad, finish school, wait until you are 18 and, if the boyfriend wants to marry, then, go ahead.
