I read this romance novel about 3 or 4 years ago, but can't remember the name of it or the author! Its about a man who is forced to marry a woman he bedded but leaves her with her father. Years later he encounters an attractive "escort" that has a child and falls helplessly in love with her... but soon finds out the escort is actually the woman he was for. It is set in historical England. If anyone knows the book please please let me know!

Linda Berdoll wrote two sequals to Pride and Prejudice - Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife and Darcy and Elizabeth. What you have described sounds like Wickham's side story, I believe that specific portion of the story rolls out in Darcy and Elizabeth. It's been awhile since I've read those books, but here is what I remember: Wickham not only bedded the girl, but he got her pregnant. When he runs into her years later he does not know that it's her. She is a high paid escort and she has a close friend who is also an escort, you find out later that this friend is actually the escort and Wickhams daughter. The escort has a new baby that Wickham kidnaps after the escort dies. Again, this story is only a portion of the books, the main story is about Darcy and Elizabeth.
