    Potential virus - help!
We started using Verizon DSL for our business computer; they offer a "suite" package which has anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc. At the time of installation, I had been using AVG Free but it said there was a conflict between that and Verizon Suite and that it needed to uninstall AVG.

Suddenly within the last week, Verizon is popping up saying a virus has been detected. It has numerous files quarantined but they don't look like "bad" files to me and I'm scared to delete them; I'm worried that an actual virus might be in them but I'll be worse off if I delete them. Any suggestions? :(

You cannot have two antivirus programs running simultaneously. I would uninstall both AVG and the "suite" and go with Avast.

So what do I do then if my files are infected? Just delete them and hope for the best? Like I said, they don't look like "bad" files to me and I'm worried what will happen if I delete them. One of them is :

    C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe

That certainly doesn't sound like a virus to me so now I'm paranoid that I'm going to do more harm than good if I try to clean them.

Avira has good protection and removal. Use that. http://www.free-av.com/

Okay, now I'm really ticked. I turned off the Verizon AntiVirus, installed Avast, ran the cleaner and quarantined four files... now my sound is gone. I get absolutely nothing from my speakers, even though they're both plugged in and turned on.

Thoughts? Anything would be appreciated! :)

That is unfourtunatly your messenger client which has been infected/replaced with a virus. You can try to use the "repair" option which some antiviruses have, but it will most likely not work. You will have to reinstall messenger or whatever other pr
