I'm starting college in the fall and will be studying film and television production , and even though I am thrilled of the career I have chosen , I don't feel as if going to college is what is right at the moment. I know that I want to study film and I know that I want to be successful but in my heart I do not yet feel a 100 percent sure that I am meant to start college now . I want to travel and do so much more before I go to college. I know money is a big factor I do want to start working as soon as possible in my career path , but how can I put my all into something if I don't feel as if I'm ready for it ?

Well, maybe you need to reconsider. There's nothing wrong with taking a year off. Or if you want to travel, you might consider looking into studying abroad. Looking into internships might be a good idea too.

It's late, but you could ask the college for a one-year deferment. They might agree to admit you in fall 2011 instead of this fall. Then you could travel or perhaps do volunteer work in different parts of the world. You might even be able to volunteer for a film maker and get some hands on experience AND travel. But don't just not go to college if you don't have specific plans. You could end up sitting at home, getting depressed and wondering why you didn't go to college.
