I have a Kenmore 80 series Washer and the tub has an order, tried the vinegar/baking soda and still smell's it is Type 111 model 110 C26832692 serial # CH 3601898, can anyone tell me how to get the cover off so I can see if something is stuck in the pump to cause this smell... Your odor is probably coming from the upper outer tub after years of accumulation. Are you ready? Remove the end caps on the control panel. Use your fingers to pry them from the top towards you. You will now have access to two screws. Remove them. The control panel will flip up. There is one molex connector for the lid switch. Disconnect it. With a long handled flat screw driver, place it into the two metal clips on either side and pry away from you. Remove clips. Now, the whole case will pivot toward you. Remove case and set aside. You will now be able to see the outer tub. Do you see a lot of black material at the top of the tub? You will want to clean this. There is a plastic cover (tub ring) that you will have to remove. You can push down and pry out on each connector and work you way around the tub. After this is removed you will have room to work. Just use the tub as a big wash basin. Any water, chemicals, or debris will be able to be rinsed and drained away when you put the washer back together. Just assemble in the reverse order as you took it apart. The gook is likely an accumulation of fabric softener and who knows whatever else. Have fun.
