I've wanted to get my bedroom for a very long time. My dad said I can and we have lookad at a lot of stuff and we know what where getting and where there going and everything that you need to do it up. But my dad just isn't paying any attention to doing it up.

What can I do to make him have more of an interest in doing it and that it will be done quicker? :)

Sit down with him and ask about a time frame that your room can be done.

Life gets in the way sometimes and things done around the house tend to get put on the long finger,see if you can pin him down to a time,in a nice way,don't beg or plead or moan,just ask as nice as you can.

Ask also is there something you can start doing,example,clean the walls,or strip wallpaper,a willinness on your part to help might be the push he needs to get started.

We have set times a lot but when it come to the day he justt gets lazy and doesn't do anything. And when I tell him that we need to talk about another time, he gets annoyed at me.

I can ask him what there is to do. And hopefully he will get started

I asked him if there was anything I could do in my part. but he said no there's nothing I can do. he keeps setting times and he never gets around to doing it.

Where going on holidays in two weeks, and a while ago I asked if it would be done before we go (as nice as I could) and he said yes which obviously got my hopes up. and I asked him the same question just the other day and he said no. he always does that. bringing my hopes up and then and dropping it when it comes to the day:(.

What changes do you want to make in your room? New wallpaper? Fresh paint? (where -- walls, baseboards, ceiling?) new linens? A new comforter? Is anything really expensive for this make-over? Make a list and post it here.

I want everything done. a completely new room. I want new paint, carpet, bed, wardrobe. Litteraly everything. we knoe what where going to get and where it will go in my room. it's a matter of actually getting it done. :(

No we have the money. he's always setting dates for us to go buy the stuff. but when the day comes he does it:mad:. and if it was a matter of money he wouldn't set the date and get my hopes up.

I'm married to one of those DIY guys, so you know that means he looks at the whole project, decides to think about it for a while, sits down to watch TV or eat lunch, starts to make a list, and then wanders out into the back yard to watch the birds build a nest. You ask him, "What's going on with the project?" and he says, "I'm thinking about it, I'm thinking about it." He even figures out where he will buy the paint and gets his tools lined up and puts the Bed, Bath and Beyond flyer on his nightstand to look at before he falls asleep, but nothing ever seems to get done.

With DIY guys, you have to knock the project down into doable pieces. Can you do that with your project? (That's why I suggested making a list. DIY guys like lists. And if you're willing to pitch in and do some of the work, like painting, it will probably help a lot to get him moving.)

I have made list. lots of them. and I can't paint until everythings out of the room. and half the things in the room are built into the wall. so I need his help to known them down and get them out. :(

Maybe if he's just sitting around one day you can go to him and ask him to take you to the store to pick out paint. Try asking for one thing at a time. First get the paint then ask him to help you move the stuff out.

Where's your mom? Have you talked to her about this?

We have the paint and carpet. but we got that last year.

Yes I have talked to har but she doesn't like to talk about those sort of things she leaves it to my dad.

Sounds like you're pretty much shot down -- your mom doesn't want to talk about it, your dad doesn't want to do it, you can't do it by yourself or hire someone to do it. What other possibilities might there be?
