    Shallow well pump problems
Having some trouble with the pump at the lake cabin, seems to run much longer than it should or used to - it builds up pressure to about 46 - 48 accordint to the gauge ( probably not exactly accurate - who knows ) but keeps running for a long time but if you tap on control switch box it will quit, can it be because the switch is sticking or maybe it never really reaches cut out pressure, if so why, what can I try ?

Sure sounds like the switch is sticking. Turn off the power, then use an emory board (or small grit sandpaper) and give the points a few strokes each. If it continues to stick, then replace it... 25 bucks or so will buy a new switch.

You might also want to check the little pipe leading to the switch. They are notorious for clogging up with crud and making the switch slow to respond.

Also, spend 5 bucks more and put on a new pressure gauge. A functioning gauge is not needed to make the system work right, but it is really important when trying to diagnose problems.
