I have the red green and blue running from my dvd to my TV but I'm only getting black and white picture from the blue component cable. I have tried switching them around but can't get a picture.

Verify your TV has Component input.

Also make sure that you have enabled the progressive output setting. This varies from player to player. Some use a switch on the back to enable component/progressive output, some have a menu setting, and others just have a button on the front or on the remote.
