Married in spain but divorced in the US
Im an American citizen and I married a spaniard in Barcelona. We moved to the US and he became a resident. We divorced in the US, is it valid in Spain as well? Do we have to divorce in Spain as well? Thank you

No, you don't have to divorce in Spain. You dissolved the marriage once.

Thank you and no legal documents such as the decree have to be translated in Spain. My ex husband is claiming he needs to get a lawyer in Spain to translate the decree in Spain?

He may need to have it translated, yes of course, there is nothing wrong with that.
