Ive heard that that is period of which they expel their waste. So I would think this is the point of which it "farts" O2 because that's their bi-product right?

While you revived that thread (posted on the 14 Dec 2006), your answer is not true at all. Plants, like all living things 'respire', which means use food and oxygen to produce energy and then carbon dioxide as by-product.

They respire all the time, during the day like at night, but during the day, they take in more carbon dioxide than they take in oxygen.

At night, they cannot photosynthesize and hence, will only be able to respire.

What about the fact at night when they can't produce photosynthesis therefore expelling co2 which was what I meant but during the day they use co2 to photosynthesize so during the day they expel more o2.

The OP (original poster) asked for what happens at night and you said:

Which means that you are saying that plants expel their waste, that is O2, at night. But that's not true. They expel only CO2 at night.

You should be clearer next time because your post seemed you were saying the complete opposite.

Also, avoid double posting, reviving a thread and lastly, plants do not 'fart' but respire. If you breathe, is it called 'farting through the mouth'? No, so...

Sorry about that I'm doing this all through my Android, yeah but that's what I originally meant, they fart o2 during photosynthesis (day) and fart co2 during night hours lol I was just being a little humorous with the fart thing by the way

All I know is the plants like CO2 it's good for them, in door plant growers use CO2 with intermittant rease of the Gas to promote plant growth, kind of sound like CO2 is Green to me
