I have a Roper gas dryer. I have to run it about 10 times for it to dry one load of clothes, not a big load, either. I opened it up and cleaned all the vents I could find on the inside (and believe me, they were dirty), and disconnected the exhaust hose. Still nothing, it's doing the same thing. What else could it be?
The dryer still heats up and tumbles, but it seems like the steam is caught in the drum because whenever I open the door I get hit with a cloud. I don't know what else to do. I can't afford a repair man or a new one. Help, please?

You write that you cleaned all of the vents. Would that include cleaning of the filter and the space where the lint travels to the filter? Also, can you physically see that the burner is lit completely, please?

Normally this happens when the vent is clogged up. Cleanup the hose and hopefully it should help

We did take it apart and remove the section that holds the lint trap and cleaned that out with a vacuum (the lint trap on my dryer is on the top, meaning it was easy to access and remove from the back). We also took off the top and saw that it was igniting, there was a definite flame. We didn't see anymore lint, but we are going to go get some more exhaust piping from the hardware store today and replace it anyway. Right now, I have the exhaust disconnected, and it dries the clothes faster, but it still takes a while. I am also slightly concerned about having it venting inside, but I have no other option since I have to do laundry since my husband is messy. We have a CO2 detector that I tested before anything was disconnected, so I feel a little safer. But I'm still wary.
