My a/c drips water in the overflow. Had tech come check they wanted to place some sort of float that would cut a/c off if too much water was in drip pan, never said were the water came from

My a/c drips water in the overflow. Had tech come check they wanted to place some sort of float that would cut a/c off if too much water was in drip pan, never said were the water came from
