    Removing Brown Hair Dye
I have medium/light blonde hair naturally. In September I decided to semi-permanently dye my hair a medium brown color. I really liked it, so by mid October I opted to go permanent, just so that the color woudlnt fade.

I like my hair being darker, but I would like to lighten it to something closer to my natural color. Perhaps a dark blonde.

I don't want to chemically strip my hair, if I can avoid it. And I'm not in a hurry to remove this color.

What I'm wondering is, is there a way I can slowly fade out/remove this brown color over the next 4-6 months that would be safe? And if so, what do I do about the roots? Would it be sensible to do semipermanent root touchups, and use something like prell shampoo on the ends, until everything can fade out together?

Or am I going to just have to go to a salon and have someone remove it for me? And if I do go to a salon, will my hair be damaged? And will all the color be removed? Or will I spend a hundred bucks to get a frizzled orange hairdo that I'll just have to chop off anyhow?

In order to go from brown to blonde, you will need to bleach your hair. If you use a hair color remover, it will make your hair brassy or orange. If you want a decent blonde color, your hair has to be lightened and then the desired color is applied. It would be a good idea to get it professionally done.
