I would like to go to a wall switch. Do I have to go into it to get the light wire or third wire

Does the remote work? Some fans sell a plastic pocket that you can mount on the wall to use your remote as a wall switch, cheap and easy. If you don't want that I am sure we can fix you up but you need to help us understand your situation. Are you saying there is no switch anywhere, power is always on 24/7 to the receiver up in the canopy?

Does the fan have pullchains?
