Our renters called and they said the unit is making a very loud noise and the chage filter light came on the thermostat could that mean the fan is not working

The central air unit is making a loud noise and it is not blowing air ? Could this be because the filter was really dirty

It seems the filter is dirty to start with so change it. Fan motors can make a noise but you almost have to be there to tell.
