    Homework help
I just for someone to check this. I'm working on a payroll Register but it don't seems to be coming out right. I think it have to do with my Regular and overtime earning.

Fran worked 40 hours at 6.50 per hour
    6.50*40=260

Williams worked 48 hours with time and a half at 6.25
    6.25*40=250
    6.25*1.5=9.38
    9.38*8= 75.00
    250.00+75.00=325.00

Harry work 371/2 hour at 8.10 per hour
    8.10*37.5=303.75

Lawerance worked 46 hours with time and a half at 7.90 per hour
    7.90*40=316.00
    7.90*1.5=11.85
    11.85*6=71.10
    316.00+71.10=387.10

Lucky worked 40 hours at 5.75 per hour
    5.75*40=230.00

Fay worked 315 per week that 41 1/4 hours with time and a half
    315/40=7.87
    7.87*1.5=11.81=14.76
    7.87*40=314.80
    314.80+14.76=329.56

Robey had a month salary of 1700 and he worked 40 hours
    1700*12=20,400
    20,400/52=392.30
    392.30/40=

    Now I'm confused

with the week, month and year
    315 week worked 41 1/4 hours
    1700 month worked 40 hours
    2350 month worked 40 hours
1510 month worked 44 hours with time and a half
    52000 year worked 40 hours

I'm to figure the hour rate can you help??

Okay, the $315 portion has to be done on a trial-and-error basis. I know of no formula to help you.

Use 22 work days for the month portion. The one with 44.5 hours is another trial-and-error methodology.

The $52,000 year is easy: it's $1,000 a week, or $25 per hour.

I don't know why ATG is having to do your homework for you! You should send him a generous tip!

The formula you need is as follows:

    Let x = hourly rate.

    $315 = 40x + (1.5x*1.25)

    solve for x

    41.875x = $315
    x = $7.52

Thanks for the compliment. I should have figured out the formula, but I drew a blank!
