I have a 6 month old dachshund. I would like to know at what age will she come into heat? I have been told different times. I do not want her to have puppies. I am planning to have her spayed as soon as possible. Thank you for your help

At 6 months of age she's more then old enough to be spayed. Most vets say it's better to spay before the first heat, so now is the time to do it.

6 month is a good age to be spayed as others have suggested.
There is debate as to whether it is better to spay before or after their first heat, same with neutering.
Personally I don't think it matters... if you do it before, you avoid that horrible 3 weeks of bleeding, moodiness and whining to get to males.

Smaller dogs come in heat anywhere from 6 months to 12 months, it really depends on the individual dog.
