Should renter pay rent on foreclosing home?
Hi, the house I rent is in foreclosure and is being auctioned on July 13th, 2010. My rent is due in less than a week. I need to know if the property management can legally take my rent money considering it will be sold to the highest bidder in only a couple weeks? I don't want to pay rent and lose out on the money considering I will need it to find a new place to live. What can I do? My rent is prepaid so I will end up paying them for the entire month of July. But they won't own it the whole month of July.
    Thanks,
    Jen

    Hello j:

Pro rate the rent through the 13th, and pay that amount. Yes, I'm sure they want more. Don't give it to them.
