Will pending charges from 2004 show on a criminal background check?
I was charged with GA's 7 deadly sins after our run away teenager made false sexual natured accusations of a sexual nature in order to not return home to a family that loved her. Authorities promised our teen the moon and the stars. I was charged, later arrested for 2 weeks until bond was set at $100,000, released, and the DA is not making any attempts to go forward. Will pending charges, the arrest, or anything related to this horrible event show on a background check for emplloyment or to rent in a nice apt complex in another state? It's been around 6 years, and charges have not been dropped, but clearly nothing is being done.

If you were CHARGED/ARRESTED, yes, this will appear on a background check.

If it was "simply" an investigation (which it obviously was not, no).

You have been out on bond for 6 years? Your Attorney should be screaming at the Court.

Thank you for the response. I've checked back with my lawyer every few months & he says that he'll meet with the DA. Last I was told is that if the DA wants to keep quiet and let it ride out it's time, that we should do the same. It's excruciating to say the least. Especially when no crime has been committed. Not sure why the DA won't let the charges go unless he just doesn't want the community to feel that he isn't holding charges against people through to the end. This situation hurts in so many ways that others just don't know about.

I don't understand - you either have to be tried or the charges have to be dropped within a time frame. I'm confused.

Every now and then someone posts something on the legal boards that astounds me - this is one of those times.

I'm speechless - and, trust me, that NEVER happens!
