I know the Op hasn't been back, but I am almost certain they are talking about Newfie pea's pudding.
1 lb package yellow split peas
¼ cup butter
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
Wash peas and put in a cloth bag. Do not pack tightly. Place bag in pot with a quart of water . Bring to a full boil and then turn heat down to a slow boil. Keep water boiling, for approximately 1 ½ hours. When peas are done, remove and squeeze bag to get out all water. Turn peas into a dish, add the butter, salt and pepper, mixing until butter is melted. Serve with salt meat and cabbage dinner. Or fish and brews. Yes B'y!
MMMMM
Or maybe White pudding?
1 pound fresh beef suet
9 ounces fine oatmeal
1 small onion - chopped
2 teaspoons white pepper
1 and 1/2 teaspoon salt
Remove the beef suet from skin and stringy matter and chop into 1/4 inch cubes. Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Stuff the mixture into sausage casings and seal. Boil sausages for about 20 or 25 minutes, but no longer of they will turn brow. Hang sausages to set. Once set, fry sausages as per usual. Note: You can add a pinch of your favorite seasoning to the bowl before stuffing. You might try thyme, coriander of marjoram. Makes 8 servings
