For about a week now I have had very sore erect nipples and have not been able to touch them at all, even lying on them or having a bra on irrates them. I was due on my period today and have come on but usually it is very heavy, I have a very very small amount... with very bad cramping pains which come and go! I did a pregnancy test the other day which was neagative, could I actually be pregnant though?

Anything is possible, but without a positive test, your guess is as good as ours, we can't give you a definite answer.

Keep in mind that PMS and pregnancy symptoms are very similar. Sore breasts is a very common PMS symptom.

As for your period, sometimes women have an off month where our cycle is either heavier, lighter, or we skip a month altogether.

Since you are actually bleeding, I'd take this as your period. If you're still concerned that you may be pregnant, wait until your next period is due, and if you're late, retest.
