I am moving a basement shower drain about 1 1/2 ft.
I am moving a basement shower drain about 1 1/2 ft. I have cut out the concrete and dug down close to 2 ft and can not find the p trap. Can I put and new p trap under the new drain? If not how far down and where night the existing p trap be located?

    Just a quick question.

    Hi RPS

The PTRAP should be located directly under the shower exactly as you thought it should be... at least it should be.

If you shine a light down the pipe... do you see water standing in the drain? If so, take a tape measure and measure down to the water line. That is how deep the trap will be located. The old trap will need to be removed and a new trap will need to be relocated directly under the new shower strainer assembly.

Let me know if you'd like to discuss more... OK?
