My daughter in law has a child, 5 years old, she has a full custody. My son would like to adopt him, The father did not show up in court for the custody hearing even after the Judge talk to him. He is an illegal alien is any way we can have his rights terminated?

My friend is going through this and I'm pretty sure if he doesn't show up for the hearing regarding the custody he is pretty much giving up his rights.
