How far from the wall do you bring the drain for a tub shower
I bought an older house and have added a master suite the owner before me turned the garage into a bedroom. We want to turn that into the bath being its pier and beam on a slab I need to know how far to bring out the drain form the wall for the tub shower combo and the toilet

You're asking about rough in measures, correct?
Tub roughs is 15 1/2 " from the side wall and 1 1/2" from the front plate.
    Thease are for 60 X 31 1/2" tub.
Toilets roughs at 11 1/2"off the finished wall or 12" off the stud wall. Give at least 15" spacefrom the center before adding any fixture.
    All measures are center measurements.

The standard rough in is 12.5" from the stud wall or 12 from a finished wall. You can get some toilets with a 10" but you are better off with a 12". I usually do 12.5 from a finished wall, you can sneak your hand in to repaint and the tank won't hit the wall. A tub combo varies by manufacturer but average about 4-5" from the drain wall and 14-15" from the side wall. Measure the one you are considering. Since it appears you have access underneath, you can usually get enough wiggle room using PVC pipe. What about your vent?

Not in my area, Toilets roughs at 11 1/2"off the finished wall or 12" off the stud wall. 12 1/2" off the finished wall puts the tank too far from the wall. We likeum close.

Again, I disagree! Tub roughs is 15 1/2 " from the side wall and 1 1/2" from the front plate. 4-5" from the front plate puts the raiser under the tub floor not the tub waste.

We wet vent our tubs, (see image) in my area. What code do you fall under? Regards, Tom

    Hello Tankie,

We usually rough-in toilet to its exact location. ( in my area it is 12" from framing and 15" minimum from nearest wall ).

As far as tub goes: we usually just stub out rough in plumbing - usually on foot to one side of the center of the tub. ( 15" is center from side wall - so figure either 3" or 27" from the same wall )

Once we are ready to install the tub, we set the tub with Overflow assembly already installed, slip on PVC trap and connect it with the stub out.

Hope that helps... Back to you... Milo
