I've just moved to France. Which would be great, if it wasn't for the fact I don't speak the language, hence the fact I am yet to make friends. When I lived in England my life revolved around my friends, they where like my sun. With only my parents and older brothers for company, I am slowly going insane. The worse thing is the fact on average, it takes someone my age 2 years to become fluent at French. Is there any way I can make friends before knowing how to talk to them?

I would suggest be calm, keep observing how people behave, understand your neighbors or the new people surrounding you. Make friendly gestures, give away a smile, know them and then start interacting with them. Your friendly gestures will help you make friends. And yes, get started with learning the local language.

Is there any people who do speak English? Maybe you could find them and be friends with them or at least be aquaintences.
