Anyone familiar with repair levels for AC units?
Recently I had a technician look into why my 14 year old Carrier Ac did not start any more and he replaced a dual capacitor that cost me 252 + tax because it was a level 2 repair;after he left I looked on the invoice and noticed that "replacing a capacitor" was a level 1 repair therefore would cost 132 + tax;phoned the company and was told that it was a dual capacitor that is a level 2 repair; Is that correct? At level 2 there was no mention of a capacitor; In 14 years never had a problem with this AC

I have never heard of a level 2 or any other number for a repair. I believe it is a way to charge customers by flat rate. This way they are not charging by the hour and can charge the customer more money since the customer cannot watch the clock and figure out the labor charge by Hour rate X time.

Yes, it sounds like merely a company billing procedure
